Issue 28: November 2020

In this last issue of 2020 we look at Concorde’s history from an unusual angle, with a feature on the model British Airways Concorde that stood in Times Square, New York.

Tom Goodman, Director of Goodman Media International, Inc. – the PR company that organised the installation – recalls the challenges involved in installing this 100-foot, half-sized replica at one of the busiest traffic intersections in the world.

John Panoski and Rich Bievenue of the Empire State Aerosciences Museum take up the story, describing how they acquired and renovated the model and outlining their plan for displaying it at the entrance of their museum.

Our Concorde Watch for this issue reports on the visitor events and maintenance work that the UK museums managed to carry out in the last few months, despite the ongoing pandemic, at Duxford, Manchester and Brooklands. We also take a brief look at the current situation for museums outside the UK.
