This issue begins with an unusual feature – the use of Concorde for scientific research. Almost 45 years ago, on 30 June 1973, astronomers called upon Concorde to follow a solar eclipse.
At the time, Concorde 001 was the only aircraft fast enough to keep pace with the shadow of the Moon – and also spacious enough to accommodate teams of scientists, with their equipment. This feat of aviation has never been equalled from that day to this.
For our second feature, we report on a gathering of the Concorde fraternity at Aeroscopia in Toulouse, to view their impressive exhibitions centred on Concorde.
Finally, we report on a 30th anniversary celebration to mark the arrival of F-WTSA (Sierra Alpha) at Musée Delta in Orly, and on a technical tour of G-BBDG at Brooklands.
