Twenty-one years after Concorde retired, the story continues – but, sadly, we have had to say goodbye to someone who played a long-standing role in the aircraft’s history.
This month we pay tribute to a Concorde engineer who spent his entire working life with the aircraft – John Dunlevy, who began by working on construction of British prototype 002, and was still working on restoration of the British Concordes up to this summer. John sadly died in October, and this issue is a tribute to him.
We also look back at a little-known part of Concorde’s history: the development of the “Concorde B”, which would have been the next step in the aircraft’s evolution.
Finally, Mach 2 reports on two events featuring BA Concorde pilots: a talk given by Chief Concorde Pilot Jock Lowe at BA Headquarters, and an anniversary tribute event with Captain Les Brodie and G-BOAF.
As ever, we also bring up-to-date reports of the restoration and preservation work happening for Concorde, with news from the Runway Visitor Park at Manchester and the Duxford Aviation Society.
