The August 2023 issue of Mach 2 is out now! Apologies for the delay in publishing, but this issue was more complex to prepare than usual – because it comes to you in both English and French.
The focus is on the 20th anniversary of the retirement of the Air France Concorde fleet. We look back at the high points of the French Concorde experience, before hearing from some of those present at the final flights.
In particular, Mach 2 is honoured to include the reminiscences of Air France Concorde Captain Jean-Louis Chatelain, who commanded F-BVFB on the final scheduled flight and on FB’s last ever flight. Captain Chatelain shares a chapter from his book, Heures de Vol, in which he describes flying Fox Bravo to Baden-Baden for the aircraft’s final journey to the Technik Museum at Sinsheim.
Bringing the story up to date, Mach 2 includes a report on a gathering of enthusiasts held by Cap Avenir Concorde at Aéroscopia, Toulouse, with Fox Charlie, and ends with a Concorde Watch report from the Auto und Technik Museum, where Fox Bravo is on display.
This issue is dedicated to all of our French friends in the Concorde community, and goes out with many thanks to those who helped with the translation.
