In this issue, Mach 2 brings amazing news from the Concorde world as well as a look back at a high point in the aircraft’s early history.
We begin with a gathering of British and French Concorde groups at an extraordinary event at the British Embassy in Paris. We also feature the award of the Brackley Memorial Trophy, for “an outstanding contribution to air transport or transport aircraft operations”, to the British Airways Concorde fleet at London’s Guildhall. Looking back, we present eyewitness accounts of the challenges and achievements involved in the route-proving flights that led to Concorde’s certification. From a different angle, one of Concorde’s flight attendants describes the steps that took her to the ultimate career in the sky.
We also have details of the repair to Concorde G-BOAC’s windscreen at Manchester and a report from Sinsheim in Germany, home of Air France Concorde F-BVFB.
