In our main feature we pay tribute to the Royal Air Force on their centenary, by remembering the dazzling display flights by the Red Arrows and Concorde.
We also remember Sir George Edwards, to mark the 110th anniversary of his birth on 9 July. As head of the British Aircraft Corporation, he oversaw the development of Concorde from initial plans to inaugural scheduled flights.
Thirdly, we consider an unusual but vitally important use for Concorde – as a transport for emergency medical supplies and, on at least one occasion, for seriously ill people.
We end with a brief report from the Barbados Concorde Experience.
