Issue 45: February 2025

Almost 50 years ago, on 27 February 1975, British Concorde 204 – G-BOAC – made her maiden flight from Filton.

This aircraft would go on to have the longest flying career of any Concorde, encompassing the end of test flying and the entirety of Concorde services. She would be retired to Manchester airport in 2003, four weeks before Concorde flights ended for good.

But that was not the end of her story. From 2004 G-BOAC was put on display to visitors, then in 2009 she was moved into a new hangar. After years of restoration work, she has had her nose and some of her other systems reactivated, and is looking more and more as she did when in service.

Mach 2 brings you the 50-year history of this unique aircraft, whose story still continues today.
